Virtual Law Enforcement Torch Run 2020

Lucas Lightning Leaders

Thank you for checking out our Team Page for the 2020 Virtual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ohio!

We have committed to "virtually" participate in a leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics Ohio. In Ohio, Torch Run participants run, bike, jog, walk, cycle, horseback ride, or drive in support of Special Olympics Ohio State athletes.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1981 when Wichita, Kansas Police Chief Richard LaMunyon saw a need to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics.  He conceived the idea of the Torch Run as a way to involve local law enforcement with the community and Special Olympics. The idea was then launched nationally and today involves law enforcement personnel in all 50 states and about 25 countries throughout the world.

The LETR is the largest grassroots fundraiser for Special Olympics internationally. The Torch Run and other affiliated year-round events raise more than $500,000 for Special Olympics Ohio in 2018. Join me in celebrating the mission of the Law Enforcement Torch Run and donate today!
